The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has released the official notification for the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET / JTET) 2026. This is a mandatory eligibility test for candidates who wish to teach in government schools in Jharkhand. The exam is conducted for Paper I (Class 1-5) and Paper II (Class 6-8). Online applications will begin from 21 April 2026 and the last date to apply is 21 May 2026.

For Paper I (Primary Level - Class 1-5)
- Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (12th) examination
- Must have completed 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / BTC) from a recognized institution
- OR completed 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
- OR completed Diploma in Special Education (for Special Education teachers)
For Paper II (Upper Primary Level - Class 6-8)
- Candidates must have completed Graduation from a recognized university
- Must have completed 2-year B.Ed (Bachelor of Education)
- OR completed 4-year B.A.Ed. / B.Sc.Ed.
- OR completed D.El.Ed with Higher Secondary and 4-year integrated course
- OR B.Ed in Special Education

The Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET/JTET) is conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines.
