Recruitment Details

The India Post GDS 3rd Merit List 2026 has been officially released at indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. Candidates shortlisted in the third list must appear for document verification at their allotted divisional office by 26th May 2026. The recruitment covers 28,636 vacancies for GDS posts, including Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), with selection based purely on Class 10 marks, no written exam is held.

The India Post Gramin Dak Sevak recruitment is conducted solely on the basis of 10th class marks and multiple merit lists are released. After the 1st and 2nd merit lists, the Department of Posts has now published the 3rd Merit List containing the names of shortlisted candidates who were not selected in the previous two rounds.

The merit list is available as state-wise PDFs on the official portal under Online Engagement Schedule -I 2026 . Candidates can download the PDF for their state and search for their name or registration number to check their shortlisting status.

Age Limit

Age limit: See official notification. Age relaxation is available as per Government of India / State Government rules — OBC (NCL) +3 years, SC/ST +5 years, PwBD +10 years, Ex-Servicemen as per applicable rules.

Selection Process

1. Online Written Examination / CBT: Objective MCQ test covering relevant subjects, general awareness, reasoning and aptitude.
2. Skill Test / Interview: Wherever applicable for shortlisted candidates.
3. Document Verification: Original certificate verification at the final stage.
4. Medical Examination: For posts that require medical fitness.

Salary / Vetan

Selected candidates will be paid as per the official pay scale. As per 7th Pay Commission / pay matrix plus DA, HRA, TA and other admissible allowances. Government job benefits include PF, gratuity, NPS pension, medical facility, LTC and job security.
